When I first started my rather steep climb of spiritual awakening in 2013, one of the biggest tools of my transformation was music, specifically kirtan.

I went from being clueless, angry, and miserable about life to an entirely new way of thinking, feeling, and understanding the world around me. The first song that jump started my heart was Gobinday Mukunday, a song in sanskrit that translates as follows:

Gobinday Mukunday Udaaray Apaaray Hariang Kariang Nirnamay Akamay
Sustainer, Liberator, Enlightener, Infinite, Destroyer, Creator, Nameless, Desireless

In eleven minutes, these words changed my life forever. The path of devotion to God has been at the core of my existence since then. I started out as many western yoga practitioners do with the standard definition of yoga, i.e. going to classes with my mat and yoga pants and doing posses and breathwork to reach higher states of peace and relaxation……
