As I was fulfilling my tasks for the day, a person over the age of 40, came to where I was in order to chit-chat for a little while. This person has been increasingly attracted to my daily chanting of the Alleluia Prayer and the powerful effect it has in my life.

In a moment of desperate disclosure, my acquaintance expressed that he wanted to confess something…

Before I could answer, he began to pour his heart out regarding his tumultuous past-life and how even though he’s been trying to be good, that he still struggles with a long-term drug addiction.

His eyes were swelling up with tears of desperation. Even though it was an odd situation, he was confessing his addiction to drugs as a last resort for freedom, before hopelessly surrendering to the grip of his drug addiction.

I listened intently…

When he realized that I was not going to judge him or rush towards giving advice… he began to calm down. It was as if my spirit of non-judgement was making him feel like a human being again.

Rather than talking about rushing to the nearest drug rehab, we began to talk about the meaning of the word “Gospel,” which he did not know, even though he had gone to Sunday School all of his life.

I explained to him that when Lord Jesus died on the Cross, that he literally carried all our past, present and future sins, so that in Him we might become free from the grip of slavery to sin, and enter into a familial relationship with God the Father.

I explained that in Christ, the effects of our sin against God and everything that is good and wholesome, fell upon Lord Jesus. Death took hold of the Author of life as a ransom for many.

Although Satan knew that his ultimate end would be defeat and eternal condemnation, his addiction to lying, killing and stealing possessed him; forcing him to act like a blood-thirsty piranha. The frenzied delight that Satan and all demons felt when they inflicted harm on the Son of God, blinded them as to the ultimate consequence of their actions.

Yet, although sin and death held Lord Jesus tightly in their grip… they could not hold him forever. On the third day, new life bursted from the tomb. The Author of life was once again recreating a new cosmos of light which emanated from the innermost crevices of His soul.

In Himself, Christ Jesus not only defeated the old world order of slavery to death… He made a new Creation of light, righteousness and bliss.

I also explained, that regardless of his bad past, that Lord Jesus would faithfully accept him as a disciple, if he simply came to Him in humility, total surrender and trust.

1 Peter 5:7- Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

My goal was to deal with the guilt of a bad past, which has kept him shackled to the lies of Satan for many years. Satan continuously tells him that he does not deserve to be a happy and whole human being. But worse than this… Satan had convinced him that he would never win over the fellowship and grace of God… But God is love! How can one win the love of a God that is love??

There are many people like this in the world… They do not need a condemning eye… What they need are embracing hearts that will love and help them become fully-realized human beings. We do this by being the light in their midst…by spreading the Good News!

So I ask for your prayers… I believe that my friend and I have begun the long journey of renewing our minds and becoming disciples of Christ.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Yeshua! Alleluia! Yeshua! Yeshua! Alleluia! Alleluia!
