249556.jpgLike St. Origen (3rd Century/Church Father), I find myself fully believing in the pre-existence of the human soul. (we can Biblically discuss this at a latter time)

Also like Origen (and many Greeks of his time), I have philosophically “flirted” with the doctrine of Reincarnation while trying to reconcile it with the doctrine of bodily Resurrection and the Last Judgement.

I admit that when seriously considered, there are strengths in the doctrine of Reincarnation (Transmigration) of the soul, such as seeing every incarnation as a form of “gestation” that can gradually lead a soul towards full “moksha” or “liberation” from the process of birth, death and re-birth.

Reincarnation seems to philosophically reflect the supra-patience of the Divine, which can be commensurate to the ever-hopeful patience of a mother.–jcr

I philosophically respect the doctrine of Reincarnation because it echoes an aspect of God’s love that we encounter from moment to moment in our daily lives. Many good and righteous people believe in reincarnation, and some of my holiest friends cleave to it either by tradition or by rational deduction.

On the other hand, one of the rational weaknesses of Reincarnation (or Transmigration) of the soul is the following:

Most philosophical and scientific schools of thought would agree that the world and everything in it is “passing away” (1 Cor. 7:31; 1 John 2:17, et al), and becoming weaker (Law of Thermal Dynamics) with each consecutive age.

From a religious point of view, every age has continually progressed in its moral decomposition and degradation of the human race. The transmigrated soul would find the quest towards “liberation” increasingly challenging in every incarnation. The fact that humankind is regressing in its sin, rather than progressing into holiness, speaks volumes against the position of progressive sanctification via reincarnation.

The influences over the soul and temptations to sense-gratification have become progressively stronger than ever. It doesn’t get any easier to become more godly… In fact, it is increasingly more difficult than ever.

Lord Jesus asked: “When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith in the earth?” (Luke 18:8) Christ also prophesied that the antichrist-spirit would be so prevalent in the world, that if He did not return in a timely manner, that even the elect would fall away. (Mark 13:22)

The Good News is that on the Cross and in His bodily Resurrection, Christ Jesus Triumphed over sin and gained FULL SALVATION for all humans who call unto the Name of the LORD and simply place their trust in Christ’s victory over sin, death… hell.

Yes, it really is that simple…

ANYONE who calls upon the Name of the Lord, will be saved… Not by his own works, but entirely by God’s loving grace. (Galatians 2:8-10)

In fact, if you cling to the Cross, you will also potentially reign with Christ over every Principality and Power, from the very throne of God.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (ESV) says: “For he says, ‘In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, NOW is the favorable time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.”

You can receive the gift of full liberation (salvation) NOW- both of the soul and the mind- without worries about another failed attempt in another uncertain reincarnation.

This is why Lord Christ is called the Savior of the World.
