Matthew 6:26 (NIV) Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
God Is Faithful
After a beautiful day in Pulaski, N.Y. with my beautiful wife, Liz was in the mood for NYC-style thin crust pizza.
So as we were driving I prayed that the Lord would help me in my resolute determination to make my wife happy. But there was a little problem- our funds have been a little low lately. On the other hand, we’ve been in this same situation before (who hasn’t, right?), and God has ALWAYS been here for us, from the greatest of challenges to the most silly of cravings.
Suddenly we came across a restaurant that advertised, “Come try our seasonal thin crust pizza.” So without even thinking about it, I pulled in the parking lot by faith. Liz asked: “honey, what are you doing?” She was a bit startled because I pulled into the parking lot like a man on a mission! “Oh honey, didn’t you see that they have what you’re looking for?” So we parked and stepped into the waterfront restaurant by faith.
We were treated so very nicely by our waitress!
But after a good 25 minutes, she came back to us in order to apologize and share the bad news that the cook had accidentally dropped our pizza after it was made, so we had to wait double the time. We looked at her and with sincere smiles, we assured her that the extra time there would be to our relational benefit…
The waitress offered us some complimentary clam chowder soups and salads. While we ate, we used our time to study a portion of Scripture until the pizza was brought out.
This pizza was literally one of the best we’ve ever had. It was incredibly good…
But not only that… the waitress took off half the price for the pizza…which made the bill to come out to just $7.00 (The Number of the Sabbath!) We trusted God and we used up our extra time to pray and read the Bible. God used the incident of the ruined pizza in order to show us that we have nothing to worry about. And not only that…God let us know through Biblical numerology that His “mischief” of the ruined pizza was actually a gateway for a blessing.
So we gave the waitress a $7.00 tip (which rounded the bill to $14.00) as a way to express to God that everything we have is entirely His… and that we can only give Him of what He gives to us!
14 is the Number of the Kingdom of God. So the lesson is this… TRUST GOD and praise Him in all circumstances. Be Faithful above all things, and CHOOSE to make God the center of your life. You will find that what might seem like a tragedy in your life, can actually become a set up for a blessing. But for this to come true, one must REMAIN FOCUSED ON GOD AND PATIENTLY ACCEPT HIS WILL AT ALL TIMES.
If we turn every occasion (literally) an opportunity to praise God and ascribe glory to His Name, He will honor your trust and bless you- even in the most trivial of sincere cravings.
Glory to Jesus Christ!! Glory Forever!
