19-year-old Connecticut Freshman Luke Gatti, was arrested on Sunday, October 4, 2015 and charged with second-degree breach of peace and first-degree criminal trespass.
The drunk, unruly student was refused service by the Union Street Market for carrying an opened alcoholic beverage into the premises.
A Youtube video that has become viral, shows how the manager dealt patiently and professionally… although if it was me who that kid pushed, I would’ve made sure his lips could not pucker up around a beer bottle for about a month.
The young drunkard wanted to purchase a Mac-n-Cheese, but couldn’t do so decently and quietly. His sense of entitlement led him to feel that he had the right to infringe on the peace and order of everyone else.
Before a male employee intervened and tackled the unruly drunkard to the ground, the Youtube video shows a female employee trying to defuse the problem. Instead, her tactic (or lack thereof) of treating everyone involved as equals (hence not siding with her manager) helped to escalate the problem. (see video 2:43 sec) She should’ve assisted the manager and those trying to control the unruly drunkard by demanding that Gatti leave the premises, rather than demanding that everyone go outside to fight.
The manager should not have let that snot-nosed kid push him around. He should’ve been taught a physical lesson with one quick right uppercut to the jaw so that he learns to respect his elders.
The first commandment with a guaranteed promise is to honor our parents. (Exodus 20:12)
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
This commandment has always been understood to be the basis for respecting those in authority. In the days of Moses, Biblical law allowed for parents to bring their unruly youth to the judges for discipline. (Deuteronomy 21:18-21) Sometimes the punishment for being a stubborn profligate was death by stoning.
They shall say to the elders “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard.” Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.
The reason why ALL THE MEN participated in the stoning was because protecting, honoring and caring for one’s parents was considered to be one of the highest virtues of the Natural Law. In fact, “life” and abundance was promised to those who valued their parents- simply as an act of appreciation for the gift of life. And second, in order to instill fear- which is the only thing that unruly, selfish persons understand.
The female employee that equated the manager with the student by demanding that they all go outside to fight, was part of the problem. The “fatherly” figure (the manager) should’ve been supported in trying to take control of the situation… instead, she helped the youth to become emboldened by yelling a directive to all the males involved, including the manager. Unfortunately, in many households, the husband is emasculated by the wife when she treats the father in the same way that she treats her children.
The liberal philosophy of not respecting the role of fathers in the household, have produced an army of entitled brats who respect nothing besides the urges that demand for them to fulfill their sense-gratification and the friends they want to impress. Our populace no longer respects authority nor fear consequences. A nation where the elders fear its youth, is a dying nation.
Not respecting your elders is a quick road towards self-destruction.
